Our mission: To collaborate with communities abroad to provide homes for our neighbors in need. Hands of the Carpenter is a registered 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Arlington, VA working to build durable shelters and sustainable communities for families in desperate need. A faith-based organization founded by an architect by trade (President Mark Cerny), Hands of the Carpenter seeks to carry out the corporal works of mercy set forth by Jesus Christ with a specific focus on housing those in need.
Bringing in construction and architectural understanding, along with financial and other resources, we are currently building homes for families in desperate need in the Banica, Dominican Republic area. Mark Cerny, President, Board of Directors Member: Mark first traveled to Banica, Dominican Republic in 2014 on a Mission trip with St Charles Catholic Church.
Mark has returned to Banica several times to continue this good work, and these trips have helped him to develop the vision for the Hands of the Carpenter.

Services
Samuel and Viola are the parents of six young and full of life children.
Of Haitian background, Samuel works in Agriculture.
They are currently experiencing severe droughts in the area and are struggling to get by, but living with great hope and optimism.
Their house was small, as seen in the photo, and made from sticks and mud.
The two small rooms and outdoor kitchen were barely enough for such a family.
The mud walls and earth floor do not provide protection from the rain, critters, and disease.
