SJCS uses a comprehensive approach in neighborhood development, one which addresses the needs of individuals as well as the need to physically improve housing stock. SJCS works to implement a series of long-range community development goals through affordable housing development and rehabilitation, homeowner education and the implementation of enhancements to a neighborhood's physical and social fabrics.

Saint Joseph's Carpenter Society encourages responsible homeownership through education and construction and rehabilitation of affordable housing units. SJCS promotes a holistic approach for homeowner's financial stability that combines financial and homeownership education classes with personalized counseling. SJCS offers homeowners of any home in certain neighborhoods access to home improvement and lead-safe remediation programs.

We currently have homes for sale in two neighborhoods of Camden-East Camden and Cooper Plaza and homes for sale in the surrounding communities of Pennsauken, Merchantville, Gloucester City, Collingswood and many others.

Saint Joseph's Carpenter Society strives to improve the quality of life of the people of the City of Camden and its surrounding communities by promoting affordable housing and neighborhood development.
Through our initiatives, we encourage people to take charge of their lives and become active community members.
To that end, Saint Joseph's Carpenter Society is regionally recognized as a leader in Camden's revitalization.
Our efforts, both in housing and economic development, have resulted in increased property values within a stable, mixed-income neighborhood.
SJCS is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1985.
SJCS is recognized as a certified community and housing development organization (CHDO), with a Board of Trustees who are actively involved in the oversight of the agency.
The Board of Trustees contains members from banking, construction, development, marketing, engineering, and business management and engaged community members from Camden and the surrounding communities.
SJCS staff is highly mission driven and has been very stable over the years, with many employees being on staff for over ten years.

SJCS offers a two-step process for prospective homebuyers that the Homebuyer's Academy and counseling in both English and Spanish.
SJCS is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency and offers HUD-certified classes.
Homeowner's Academy is a series of classes that teach prospective homeowners about budgeting, credit, mortgages, the homeownership process, neighborhood involvement, home maintenance and financial stability.
SJCS offers various homebuyers a combination of seminars and counseling to provide first-time homeowners the necessary skills to succeed in the transition from renter to owner in both English and Spanish.
These courses teach families the basics of financial management and of the mortgage process, as well as the responsibilities that come with owning a home.
The objective of the Homeowner's Academy is to teach people about the homebuying process and help develop a sound financial foundation.
Financial Fitness is the first series of classes for each prospective homebuyer.
SJCS offers homebuyers the opportunity to receive personalized homebuyer counseling to prospective homebuyers of any home, not just a home from SJCS.
Our housing counselor provides guidance and advice to help families and individuals improve their housing conditions and meet the responsibility of sustainable homeownership.
Our counselor is bilingual in English and Spanish.
SJCS is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency.
Referrals to title companies, mortgage lenders, real estate agents, homeowners insurance brokers and other service providers.
